Houki (芳輝), meaning “radiant fragrance,” is a rare toasted first-harvest matcha with warm, nutty, and black sesame like aroma.
Grown in the coastal hills of Nagasaki, this single-cultivar matcha comes from a highly decorated Japanese tea master celebrated in national tea competitions.
As our limited edition, Houki represents a pinnacle of modern Japanese matcha craft, where innovation honors tradition through a small-batch process that steams and lightly roasts the freshly picked tencha at once. This innovative process brings out the nutty richness while preserving the freshness and vibrancy of the first harvest.
The result is a matcha with a rich, nutty fragrance and a lingering toasty aroma. It opens with the sweet scent of black sesame, deepens into kinako (roasted soybeans) and toasted shokupan (milk bread).
