Khuyên grew up in Vietnam and moved to the U.S. for graduate school, never imagining she would one day open a coffee shop. Coffee had always been part of her life, though, and she built a career around it as a certified Coffee Quality Grader with a professional roasting certificate from the Specialty Coffee Association.

Her East Village café, Lê Phin, serves Vietnamese phin coffee, a traditional brewing method, alongside creative drinks like a pandan latte, bringing the flavors of Vietnam to New York’s coffee scene. Lê Phin has also served guests at multiple diplomatic receptions hosted by Vietnam’s delegation to the United Nations.
